Invitations for membership are extended to the following categories of advisors:

General Member

A General Member is an individual who:

  1. is engaged in one or more of the following licensed and/or certified estate planning or administration-related professions:
    • Attorney with at least 50% or more of his or her practice in the areas of estate planning and/or administration (may include litigation);
    • Professional fiduciary or trust officer;
    • Wealth or investment advisor;
    • Certified Financial Planner;
    • Certified Public Accountant;
    • Enrolled Agent;
    • Geriatric care manager; and
    • Insurance professional.
  2. has been in the full-time business of his or her profession for at last three (3) years immediately prior to application;
  3. has attended at least three (3) but no more than six (6) meetings as a Guest within the previous five (5) years prior to application;
  4. has received two (2) endorsements from existing members; and,
  5. has submitted a completed SBEPC Membership Application that has been reviewed and approved by the Board.

The annual membership fee is $300/year for the 2019/2020 year.

Resource Member

A Resource Member is an individual who:

  1. possesses the requisite licensing or certification, knowledge and experience in his or her field that includes a substantial nexus with estate planning or administration;
  2. has attended at least three (3) but no more than six (6) meetings as a Guest within the previous five (5) years prior to application; and,
  3. has received two (2) endorsements from existing members;
  4. has submitted a completed SBEPC Membership Application that has been reviewed and approved by the Board.

The annual membership fee is $300/year for the 2019/2020 year.

Total Resource Members shall be capped not to exceed one-third (1/3) of the total membership as measured at the time of application.

A maximum of three (3) resource members may serve on the Board at any one time.

Associate Member

An Associate Member is an individual who must qualify to be a General Member in all other ways but for lack of three (3) years of full-time experience in his or her profession immediately prior to the time of application.

The annual membership fee is $225/year for the 2019/2020 year.

An Associate Member shall not serve on the Board.

Sponsors are asked to:
  1. Know the candidate well enough to attest to his or her professional integrity
  2. Write a brief statement on the application regarding how you believe the candidate’s membership will advance the mission of SBEPC.

Members enjoy all privileges of monthly meetings, availability of continuing education credit, invitations to special events, posting on the organization’s website, the opportunity to introduce and/or sponsor other candidates for membership and the opportunity to serve as a director or officer.

Annual membership dues include all breakfast meetings, which are held on the second Thursday of each month, September through June, at the Depot Restaurant in Torrance. Social exchange begins at 7am. A full breakfast is served at 7:30am, and the speakers’ presentations are from 8:00 – 9:00am. Each meeting features a speaker on issues of importance to estate planning advisors.
